The European Commission has issued Regulation (EU) No 2015/326 to amend the requirements for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and phthalates in Appendix XVII of RAECH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006. The regulation will take effect on March 23, 2015.
This regulation replaces the method of testing the PAHs content in the fill oil used to produce tires or tire components and provides for a transition period of 18 months. Both new and old test methods can be used to test the relevant limits during the transition.
In addition, the regulation removes the third paragraph of the original REACH Annex XVII Clause 51 (Requirements for DEHP, DBP and BBP) and Clause 52 (Requirements for DINP, DIDP and DNOP), which requires the European Commission to reassess Requirements for these phthalates.
