Wärtsilä ballast water management system received 8 ship orders
Recently, Finland's Wärtsilä is building a series of eight 33,000 DWT chemical tankers that will use the Wärtsilä Aquarius UV Ballast Water Management System (BWMS) to meet the explosion-proof requirements.
This means that these ballast water management system units can be installed in Zone 1 hazardous areas and ships that meet the IMO regulations for hazardous areas must be installed with an explosion-proof, ballast water management system.
It is reported that Wärtsilä’s contract was signed in January this year and is the first delivery of Wärtsilä’s system since it was certified for explosion protection in spring 2014.
Each of the eight ships will be fitted with two Wärtsilä Aquarius UV systems, which are designed to integrate the system into hazardous areas.
Not long ago, Wärtsilä also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Qatar shipyard Nakilat-Keppel Offshore & Marine (N-KOM) to jointly provide repair and maintenance services for ships and offshore vessels and offshore structures, thereby consolidating its market position in the Middle East. .
