A computer teacher at a high school in Sydney, Australia, has used a Raspberry Pi minicomputer with a 3D printing frame to combine several sensors and other components to create a fantastic tank robot together. It was successively named Drogerdy, building on the previous design, the second prototype machine in the jRobot project. The Raspberry Pi tank robot made use of some simple parts and made a lot of it.
The jRobot project allows his students to dock their Raspberry Pi with any robot. The build shows the use of the MCP3008 ADC to allow RPI access to a range of analog sensors, including the Sharp 2Y0A02 infrared distance sensor. The Drogerdy is designed as a tractor-style robot, which is modular and expandable. Currently, the track runs around two gear assemblies, but there is already an extension that makes the track almost twice as long.
