According to the PR Newswire, the BorgWarner company's Belu system has delivered 3 million pressure sensor glow plugs (PSGs) to diesel engine manufacturers. Its customers include Audi, Isuzu , Opel and Volkswagen.
The BorgWarner-Beir system first brought PSG technology to market in the United States in 2008 when it reached a partnership with the public. At present, the technology has been applied to multiple diesel engine platforms. BorgWarner expects the market demand for PSG products to increase significantly in the coming years, and plans to produce 100 million pressure sensor glow plugs by the end of 2016.

BorgWarner's PSG incorporates a powerful steel heater and piezoresistive sensor to help increase engine efficiency to maximum performance, while ensuring engine start-up at low temperatures, improving fuel economy, reducing NOx emissions, and achieving Optimal torque control.
